GOA CASHEW AND COCONUT FESTIVAL 


This one-of-a kind festival is organized by Goa Tourism in association with the Department of Agriculture, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Goa Handicrafts Corporation.
The stunning beaches, luxury hotels, the archaic Portuguese architecture, non-stop parties and innumerable splendid memories, all this can be found at the only place – Goa. The ambience of Goa lures all the foreign and Indian tourists by itself. Every year millions of people come there to enjoy the extravaganza. Every state organizes events to give an extra push to the tourism industry. Following the same, the government of Goa in association with the Department of Agriculture – ICRA, organizes the most famous Coconut and Cashew Festival. Games and cultural programs are held both for entertainment and to promote the healthy features of eating coconut and cashew. It also gives a boost to the handicraft industry of Goa. So, let’s discuss this unique festival in detail.
In order to deal with the offseason, the tourism department thought of this event showcasing Goa’s two indigenous products – Cashew and Coconut. Cashew feni, Urrak and other drinks and food items prepared from coconut are already very famous in Goa. During this event, these drinks are presented with more additions by wonderful chefs that attract the eyeballs of all the visitors. This event is quite important for the economy of Goa. A festival that is held in May, gives a huge amount of employment to the local people to sell their handicraft items and local vendors to sell their delicious delicacies. The festival lasts for around 4 days. There are cookery shows being organized parallelly featuring the delicious food items
